What is Ducats?

Ducats pay for better equipment. They come from the junk side of excavation, including the shredder path shown in gameplay. They are not the same thing as a revived pet, a quest reward you have not received, or a Robux developer product.

Can I spend junk as if it were already Ducats?

No. Budget from the Ducat balance you hold after conversion. A stack of junk, an open truck, and an unfinished quest are not spendable money.
